Head Coach Michelle Vander Meer
Michelle has been playing volleyball for over 25 years, beginning in the Grand Haven school system, and has almost 2 decades of coaching experience at all age levels, including local high schools, beach and indoor training, spring club teams, boys’ teams and a league mainly for home educated young people. Michelle is a stay-at-home mom who is in her twelfth year of home educating her five children, ages 16, 14, 14, 12, and 12. Coaching children/young adults is one of her greatest pleasures, and she is very excited about any opportunity to help guide young people in reaching their highest potential.

17 National Coach David Vander Meer
David began playing volleyball on the beach when he was 17. Michelle introduced him to officiating, and his love for the game became even stronger. He began officiating at the recreational level in 1990 while co-coaching a local high school freshmen team with Michelle.
David received his USAV Beach National Certification in 2000, Indoor Junior National Certification in 2001, and received his Indoor National Certification June 2004. He has officiated events such as the FIVB Olympic Beach Qualifier, and the BVA in 2000, and the World Police and Fire Games in 2001. He has been able to travel with the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) since 2000. Collegiately, David officiates in the MAC, MID-CON, and GLIAC, as well as at various other colleges and was the Head Coach of 2007 state finalist, Tri-unity Christian.

16 National Ryan Campbell
Cornerstone University Head Coach
AVCA Top Thirty Under 30 Award Winner
This is Ryan's second season coaching for Carpe Diem Volleyball Club. Ryan also has worked with Cornerstone University Volleyball for three seasons and was just named Cornerstone's head coach for the 2009 season. During the summer, Ryan sharpens his coaching skills by attending division-one volleyball camps. He has worked volleyball camps at: Penn State, Hawaii, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Bowling Green. Ryan majored in physical education and double minored in health education and coaching at Cornerstone University. Ryan is originally from Illinois, but currently resides in Grand Rapids, MI

15 National Rebecca Baker
Rebecca was a 4 year varsity player at Tri-unity Christian, earning all conference, all region and 1st team all state her senior year. She played for one year at KVCC - 15th in nation for KPG, and two years at Arkansas Tech where she was conference player of the week twice. 2007 Rebecca was a starting senior at Cornerstone University. She majored in psychologhy and studied sociology as a minor. At the end of the 2007 season, Rebecca was named Honorable Mention All-American by the NAIA, This is Rebecca's 4th year coaching an third with Carpe Diem, and she was just announced as the Assistant Coach of Cornerstone University!

18 Local Christa Anderson
Christa started out in the small town of Siren, Wisconsin as a three sport athlete. After high school she attended Bemidji State University, Bemidji, Minnesota, where she played volleyball for the Beavers. During her time there she coached volleyball, basketball and softball, and ran various summer camps. Anderson finished her eligibility and continued to work with BSU’s volleyball program as a student assistant coach. She graduated with honors with a B.S. degree in design technology. Christa came to Michigan in May 2007; she currently lives in Holland. This is Christa’s first year with Carpe Diem, and she is glad to be a part of this program.

13 Regional Haley Plasman
Haley was a four year varsity player at Comstock Park High School, earning all conference her junior and senior year. She has played for Carpe Diem since she was in eighth grade, and she also loves to play on the beach. Haley is currently a senior at Comstock Park. This is her first year coaching.
