Carpe Diem

January/February 2010 Newsletter

Junior's:

• Spring Club Season Try-Outs will be Tuesday, March 9! The try-out fee is applied to your club tuition, and we offer ‘family rates’ for those with multiple volleyball players!

If you are playing with us this winter season you do need to attend this try-out. However, your initial try-out fee also takes care of the spring season try-out!

• We have seven girls’ teams representing us this winter! Rosters are posted: 18 National, 16 Regional, 15 Regional, 15 Local, 14 Regional, 14 Local & 13 Local.

• Congratulations to some of our 18’s National Team players! Juniors Libby W and Abby D, and Sophomores Megan VM and Sydney VM have been invited to a D1 College summer camp! Megan VM has been invited to multiple camps and will be going to a D1 campus this month for an ‘unofficial visit’ requested by the coach! Congratulations to these great players and amazing young women!

Boy’s Volleyball: We have two teams this winter season. Our 18’s team has been to Chicago twice and taken a 2nd and a 3rd; a great accomplishment for a group of boy’s who don’t have the opportunity to play organized volleyball in school!

• Private Lessons are options for boys and girls, men and women and entire teams! Contact Michelle to schedule a time.

Adults:

• Our Winter Session I Adult Leagues are underway. Sign up soon for Winter Session II, which begins the first week in March!

• Check out and register early for our Adult Tournaments. February 13 is a 4’s Couples Draw, February 27 - Regular/Reverse Coed 4’s, March 13 - Coed 4’s, March 27 - Regular/Reverse Coed 4’s, April 17 - Regular/Reverse Coed 4’s.

Prayer Requests:

• If you have any prayer requests please feel free to share them with us! Be sure to let us know if you'd like your request included in the newsletter or kept private. Thanks to those who have trusted us and presented their requests – what a privilege to carry those to God in prayer!

• Praise God! Rachael is cancer free!! Please continue to pray for complete healing as she finishes up her treatment. Thank you SO much for your prayers! They mean SO much to this family!

• Continue to pray for Shirley, one of our moms, who suffers with an inner ear disorder. Pray for healing without radical surgery, and pray that her other ear is not affected as the doctors seem to believe.

• Praise God for Jennifer’s successful surgery!! Her double mastectomy went fantastic and she is preparing for the reconstruction process! She still has to ease back into her active life, so keep her covered with prayer!

• Pray for the upcoming try-outs, as there are lots of decisions for players, parents, club directors and coaches.

• PRAISE for answered prayer! Dillon, a professor of evolution, has been going to church and a Bible Study! Please continue to be in prayer for him, as he still claims to be an atheist. His friends see God’s hand in so many parts of his life! Pray that the scales are continually removed from his eyes and heart, and that the Lord surrounds him with more and more Godly people who will love him as Christ Himself loves us!

• Praises for another season of club volleyball – past and future. Although trying at times (and insanely busy!), we wouldn’t want to be doing anything else! Thanks to all the parents who entrust their kids to us and take time out of their busy lives to chauffer and support their children! Thanks to all the players who are SO incredible; what a wonderful group of young people we get to ‘hang out’ with! Thanks to the coaches who work so tirelessly; we have an amazing staff and are excited for every new season!  And thanks to God for allowing us to use our passion and love for volleyball and youth! We are truly blessed!

Facility Update:

• Praise God for His guidance and provision, and thanks to all of you who have made these past 3 years so memorable and exciting!

• The new lighting and thicker padding under the courts is awesome!!!

• We cannot thank two families enough for all the help and support they have given us these last couple months! Tim and Mick have been amazing helping us with marketing and publicity-type things! They and their families have sacrificed for us and we are incredibly grateful that God placed them in our lives with such giving and generous hearts!

• Help us fill up the facility: renting out courts for parties, running basketball teams, bringing in inspirational speakers, exercise/Pilates classes, AAU tournaments, and eventual tutoring programs/after school programs and Bible studies, along with the ‘normal' stuff we do! If you have ANY other ideas for us, please let us know! We need to keep this place filled for financial reasons, but we also need to use it to minister to all people! If you are interested in renting out the facility, please contact David .

• THANK YOU to all those who have donated their time, money and ‘stuff'!! We sure appreciate you and would not be near where we are without your support! PLEASE continue to pray for us, as we need every kind of support you can think of, especially prayer and financial! This is a huge step of faith and we know God will provide for all of our needs! Knowing that God uses people to fill the needs of others, we are letting go of any earthly pride and asking for help in filling some of our needs: projector, financial assistance, any connections with local businesses and especially prayer!

God’s Blessings to you, and may you have much to be thankful for,

David and Michelle Vander Meer

“Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known… This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.”    Romans 3:19-24, 27, 28
