Carpe Diem

October 2009 Newsletter

NEWS:

Carpe Diem Volleyball is thrilled to name Christa Anderson as our new Club Director.

Junior's:

• Open Houses: Come in to meet our coaching staff, gather information and ask questions about our winter club season, as your daughters scrimmage in an ‘open gym’ setting! There will be a meeting during each Open House at 6:45 and 7:45 to provide information, such as try outs dates, tuition, payment plans available, required equipment, practice time frames, expectations, and coaches.

• Winter Club Try-Out Information is available! One try-out fee covers all dates, there are ‘family’ rates AND the try-out fee will be applied to club tuition! The first date is November 8th so register soon!

• Fall Club teams are in full swing! We have 2 High School teams and 1 Middle School team!

• Private Lessons are an option for boys and girls, men and women and entire teams! Contact Michelle to schedule a time.

Adults:

• Our fall Adult League schedule is available.  Session I has already started, so signed up soon for Session II which begins either November 5 (co-ed 4’s) or the week of November 9 for all others.

• Check out and register early for our Adult Tournaments. October 17 is the next Coed 4’s, and October 31 is a Regular/Reverse Coed 4’s (one game on women’s net, one game on men’s net!).

• Carpe Diem Volleyball is a non-profit organization! As you look at our needs you will be able to write them off as a tax deduction!

Prayer Requests:

• If you have any prayer requests please feel free to share them with us! Be sure to let us know if you'd like your request included in the newsletter or kept private. Thanks to those who have trusted us and presented their requests – what a privilege to carry those to God in prayer!

• Praise God! Rachael is cancer free!! Please continue to pray for complete healing as she finishes up her treatment. Thank you SO much for your prayers! They mean SO much to this family!

• Continue to pray for Shirley, one of our moms, who suffers with an inner ear disorder. Pray for healing without radical surgery, and pray that her other ear is not affected as the doctors seem to believe.

• Please keep Jennifer J. in prayer. This is a lady our age whom we have known since Michelle played against her on the beach in the late 1980’s! Jen was told 3 weeks ago she had breast cancer, and after a whirlwind of doctors, tests, painful exams and other assessments, she has decided to have a double mastectomy, as this certain type has a strong tendency to return. Please keep her and her 4-year-old son covered in prayer. Survival is not an issue, but it is a hard road filled with more doctors, decisions and surgeries, the first of which (double mastectomy) is November 2!

• Pray for the upcoming try-outs, as there are lots of decisions for players, parents, club directors and coaches.

• PRAISE for Bill and his upcoming wedding to a wonderful woman, Judy!

• PRAISE for answered prayer! Dillon, a professor of evolution, has been going to church and a Bible Study! Please continue to be in prayer for him, as he still claims to be an atheist. His friends see God’s hand in so many parts of his life! Pray that the scales are continued to be removed from his eyes and heart, and that the Lord surrounds him with more and more Godly people who will love him as Christ Himself loves us!

• Praises for another season of club volleyball – past and future. Although trying at times (and insanely busy!), we wouldn’t want to be doing anything else! Thanks to all the parents who entrusted their kids to us and took time out of their busy lives to chauffer and support their children! Thanks to all the players who were SO incredible; what a wonderful group of young people we got to ‘hang out’ with! Thanks to the coaches who worked so tirelessly; we had an amazing staff and are excited for next year already!  And thanks to God for allowing us to use our passion and love for volleyball and youth! We are truly blessed!

Facility Update:

• Praise God for His guidance and provision, and thanks to all of you who have made these past 2+ years so memorable and exciting!

• Come see our new lighting! YES! No more yellow hue and lights hanging down! White light, fluorescents and UP IN the ceiling!

• We cannot thank two families enough for all the help and support they have given us these last couple months! Tim and Mick have been amazing helping us with marketing and publicity-type things! They and their families have sacrificed for us and we are incredibly grateful that God placed them in our lives with such giving and generous hearts!

• We tore up all three courts and put more ‘padding’ down! (It is what we wanted when we opened, but at that time we couldn’t afford it! After saving up, we were able to make this huge purchase! God is good!) Thanks so much to the people that came in and gave their time (and sweat) to help us!

• If your business is interested in advertising at our place, contact David. We have a great amount of wall space for banners!! Cost for advertising is: 250.00/year and you supply the banner. 350.00/ year and we will get a banner made for you.

• Help us fill up the facility: renting out courts for parties, running basketball teams, bringing in inspirational speakers, exercise/Pilates classes, AAU tournaments, and eventual tutoring programs/after school programs and Bible studies, along with the ‘normal' stuff we do! If you have ANY other ideas for us, please let us know! We need to keep this place filled for financial reasons, but we also need to use it to minister to all people! If you are interested in renting out the facility, please contact David .

• THANK YOU to all those who have donated their time, money and ‘stuff'!! We sure appreciate you and would not be near where we are without your support! PLEASE continue to pray for us, as we need every kind of support you can think of, especially prayer and financial! This is a huge step of faith and we know God will provide for all of our needs! Knowing that God uses people to fill the needs of others, we are letting go of any earthly pride and asking for help in filling some of our needs: projector, financial assistance, any connections with local businesses and especially prayer!

God’s Blessings to you,

David and Michelle Vander Meer

“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.”   Romans 3:23-26
